Vigilance Awareness Program
On 30th Oct. 2020, the Vigilance Dept members Mr. Saket Kalikar & Mr. Bhanu Prakash gave a lecture on Reasons of Corruption – Two Sides of Corruption – Demand & Supply – Robert Kittgard’s Original Equation on Corruption – Say no to Corruption as part of Vigilance week. CONTEMPORARY BRITISH LITERATURE

On 19/06/2019, the Dept. of English (U.G.) arranged a Guest Lecture for the Final Year English language and Literature Students on the topic "Contemporary British Literature." The resource person was Dr. Nalini Dutta, Head-Dept. of English (P.G.), SJC.

Outline of the lecture:
20th Century British Literature - War Poets - Themes of the age in various works written - Language & Style of writings - Prominent Writers of the Age - Comparison between Writers and their Works.

On 25/06/2019, the Dept. of English (UG) arranged a Guest Lecture by Dr. Nalini Dutta, Head-Dept. of English (P.G.), SJC. The target audience was English Language & Literature Students in Semester-I of the first year. 

Outline of the Lecture
What is Literature? - How to study literature? - Ages in Literature -  The Elizabethan Age was a very fertile age. There was not a single genre that went untouched. There were a lot of influences at work to stir the imagination of people. The influence of the Renaissance and the Reformation reflected in the literature of those days. Spencer, Bacon, and Shakespeare were the leading writers of the day. The spirit of the Miltonic Age - Vision and vitality of the Elizabethan age waned during this period. The focus of the age was to live a puritanical life and live by the principles of the Bible.

Guest Lecture by Ms. Praneetha
On 26/06/2019, the Dept. of English (U.G.) arranged a Guest Lecture by one of the alumni of SJC Ms. Praneetha who had studied Under Graduation in B.A. Now she is studying Post Graduation in the United Kingdom in M.A. TESOL. The target audience was the final year B.A. English Language & Literature students.

Guest lecture by Ms. Swetha 
On 28/06/2019,  the Dept. of English (U.G.) arranged a Guest Lecture by Ms. Swetha, Asst. Prof., Dept. of English (PG), SJC.  The target audience was Second-year English Language and Literature students. 

Outline of the Lecture:
The age of Neo-Classical & Romantic - historical Background - Comparison of ages- Comparison of writers - Style & language - Prominent writers and their works- Major Themes discussed.

HISTORY OF AMERICAN LITERATURE

On 11th November 2019, Dr. Nalini Dutta gave a lecture on "History of American Literature" to the third-year B.A. Cluster students of Semester VI.
